Updates at Home

I've been meaning to write a follow-up post from the last one, but never really got round to doing it, until now lol

So the problems with the actual house is gonna be resolved soon, I think. The leaking has led to some damages, but the actual amount of water that has been leaking is reducing, I think. And my bro and my bathrooms are gonna be renovated, so hopefully while they're digging up stuff, they can figure out how to solve the leaking problems, and the circuitry in my room can be fixed too. Meanwhile, surviving by candle light isn't so bad either lol (I use it to practice taking out candles using by clapping it out, or by wushu-ing it)

Dal did have some weird problems for awhile. He started limping and kinda walking on one side for a few days, and he couldn't lie down or sleep in peace, so he would just stand up most of the time. Even when we brought him to the vet one night, he would walk fine, just that he would flinch a bit. The vet said that it doesn't seem like anything wrong with is reflexes, but he also mentioned that dogs sometimes pretend, or mask their symptoms. As soon as we got through door back home, he began limping again and kinda half-walked half-fell to the side LOL Such an actor. Even after another trip or two to the vet (and even a specialist) we still didn't really know what was wrong with him.

It wasn't until our maid came back to visit for a day, and when my (second) bro came back from Qatar, that Dal was back to normal, wagging his tail, barking at other dogs, and jumping about. So, we don't know if Dal was just going through a period of doggie-depression. We thought not, because my bro and I are home pretty much all the time now, so technically he isn't lonely. Maybe he just missed having people at home. Even so though, if that was the case, he should be showing symptoms again since my (second) bro has flown back to Qatar, so. I don't really question it, as long as he's fine and not in pain anymore lol Also I take care of him most of the time, bringing him out to pee around lunch time, and giving him his dinner if no one else is home yet, so that's what I've been doing at home lol

So the situation with my maid: we were pretty sure she was gonna fly back. My sister even made a little booklet with our photos and got us to write stuff in it. I even gave her my stuffed bear before I left for school, on the day she was supposed to leave. Fortunately, she managed to find an employer at the last minute, so she stayed with us for a few more days before leaving. During the first week with the new family, things seemed okay. Looking after kids is more fun for her, I think, at least it's not so boring. We even made an agreement with the employers that she can come over to our place on the Saturdays that she's free, since she'd probably go out with her own friends on her free Sundays, so at least on Saturday, she has somewhere to go.

Recently though, I think things have been getting tougher on her, because the previous two maids that were working there, left too, so now she's left to take care of the house by herself, and the employers themselves don't have good personal habits. According to what my mum said, apparently the parents can go out on a Saturday night to drink, and come back locked out of the house 'cos they forgot to bring their keys. The father leaves his cufflinks and his belt in his pants when he's changed his clothes. And I'm like ??????? How can you constantly forget your keys???? And get yourself drunk, like you have to be responsible enough to take care of your own kids!! And do you think that your shit won't get lost in the wash??? So she's hoping to just survive these two years of her contract, and then fly back home.

Anyway, since she's not here anymore, my bro and I have to find out ways to feed ourselves for lunch when we're home lol orz The first time my bro cooked for us, he didn't know how to use the new microwave that functioned as a grill too, so since he didn't know how to use it to toast bread, he just put bread in an oily pan, and fried it. It was quite nice actually, made it crispy, but also very oily. My bro was gonna do that a second time the next day, but as he was putting in the next slice of bread, he dropped it, and Dal snatched it up straight away. He gave up cooking after that, so the next time we were both home for lunch, I had to cook instant noodles, and heat up the sausages in the microwave. I'll be honest, that was my first time cooking instant noodles - so you can see that I'm even more hopeless than he is lol

We probably survived on some microwaveable food for awhile, until my mum left out some filleted fish for us to cook. Once again, it fell on me to cook since my bro wasn't going to. I ended up getting step-by-step instructions from Hans via whatsapp (ikr) on how to cook the salmon. That was my first time frying something with supervision and my god, is it terrifying for me. I put oil in the pan (but it didn't fully cover the pan lol orz) tried putting the fish skin-side down, but it ended up being skin-side up. Then it got stuck. I managed to flip it over somehow, and then the skin got stuck too. At one point I got so scared, I just switched the gas off, and didn't dare touch the pan, so the salmon wasn't fully cooked lol orz I don't know how I managed to get it off of the pan, but I did. And I guess I did cook something edible, even if I had to put it in the microwave for 50 seconds. My mum then later said that that piece was hard to cook 'cos it was pretty thick. Anyway, I was traumatised by it for about a week, until this weekend.

I went shopping with my mum to get a new pan (really, I just wanted to get out of the house 'cos I needed to hatch my egg LOL). The pan was small enough that I could use it, and was non-stick so I didn't need so much oil, and things wouldn't stick to it lol Then when we went to isetan, they were selling salmon fillets marinating in basil and olive oil. Since they were pretty thin, and technically already flavoured, my mum thought it was a good idea to try it. We bought four slices, and cooked three of them that night. At least with some help and someone watching over me, I wasn't so bad. There was a point when I was supposed to flip it though, and some oil splattered onto my hand. It was painful enough that I freaked out and was too scared to flip it, but I still had to do it, so I did lol All three slices turned out okay, just that some where oilier than others. Since I could do dinner, my real test was today - cooking the last piece by myself.

It is pretty evident I came out of it alive LOL Although I did manage to burn the first side orz I got scared again when trying to flip it 'cos the oil was sputtering again (even though it wasn't in my direction) so I turned the fire off orz But then I had to light it up again 'cos the other side would still be raw if I didn't continue. So, I managed to finish it, and put it in the microwave for half a minute for good measure, just in case it was still raw. In the end, I had edible fish. As much as I want to be proud of myself for getting better, I can feel so much judgment that I can envision people having of me lol

Sigh.

As for my knee, somehow it got better over time. My mum gave me some cream thing, but that's only like a painkiller that in itself isn't foolproof. When I sit down and raise my leg from the knee, sometimes you can hear a cracking sounds, like the kind when you crack your fingers lol But for some reason, that now doesn't really happen anymore, which is weird. The true test was during pilates, when one of the exercises looks like this, which uses the knee, and surprisingly, my knee didn't hurt the next day. I don't think my knee has fully healed though, sometimes when we do exercises that needs you to put weight on it, I get a little worried, but so far I've been getting better somehow lol

Apart from all that though, school stuff has been okay. Evolution finals had fewer questions than we expected, stats was somehow more of analysis rather than actual calculations, and my effective reasoning paper was a head-scratcher, but I left early since I figured that extra time wouldn't answer my questions if I really don't have the answers lol Other stuff that has happened is our church's advent fair, where we sell stuff to raise money for a chosen charity that year. We do it at the end of the year during advent (the four weeks before Christmas), along with other things, like actually visiting the organisation, volunteering there, making videos to show during mass so that we can collect more money from the people lol

I helped out by getting some of the girls to sew Christmas ornaments. At first, I thought it would be pretty easy for them to do, but I think like 75% of the work was done by my mum and I lol orz They still did contribute quite a fair bit though. I handed a whole sheet of felt to one of the girls to cut out hearts and stars, and she basically used up everything in one day. I went over to one of the girl's house too, to sew designs on, and taught another how to sew the string that you use to hang the ornaments. All of that saved time, so that I could either study a little bit, or to sew the more difficult parts. Still, I'm glad that they were pretty happy we sold all of it c: My mum told me to finish up the remaining pieces when I'm free, and I even bought another bag of stuffing (which is so much softer btw omg) so I'll probably do some more. I should probably pack my luggage first though, since I'll be leaving for Hokkaido in a week. I can't wait, but it's the packing that I've been putting off :/ So, I guess I'll go do that now lol

First Official Order??

Well, some interesting things happened this week: I went back to NUS for more lab stuff, I got an order for a notebook from a stranger, and TOB was well, interesting, I guess. Maybe I should go in chronological order?

[EDIT: Braces, I forgot to mention BRACES!! I got the upper and lower done on separate Saturdays because of tiem, and I guess it hasn't been that bad. I did feel some pain on my protruding molar, but after a week it's gone, so I assume it's been pushed into position lol With the lower braces on now though, my incisors hurt, so I can't really bite anything (even baneeners ;AAA; Chewing is fine though, my braces don't really get caught on my cheeks. At least now I can say my teeth are extra shiny. Okay das all lol]

After last Saturday's TOB session, I told my mum in the car that the session wasn't very clear, and that it could've been phrased differently so that it makes more sense on our teen-aged level. When I read through the student's book, I remember there was one paragraph (about our bodies and physical appearances) which I think was what the teens really needed to hear, but she didn't talk about it. So I raised that point to her, and she just kinda sighed. I don't blame her, it's not easy to coordinate lessons of majority of the content. Like out of twelve chapters of stuff, she's doing like what, three-quarters maybe, so it's tiring to do it on your own. I guess this is where I come in lol

The chapter this week is about hope and redemption in Christ, which ties in with Lent and about how Jesus died for us to take away our sins, and that the sacrament of reconciliation is good and full of acceptance, rather than it being a time to have your wrongs pointed out and be ridiculed for it, which, as a teenager, doesn't make much sense. Also, from my own experiences of Catechism in general, my batch was mostly cynical, uncaring kids. I know, 'cos I've kinda been there before, thinking I know everything already. But I know from experience, that sometimes, the one's who suppress their emotions the most and harden their hearts, have only done so because they've been through difficult, emotional times.

Anyway, after reading the chapter on Monday, I couldn't help but think of some of the people I know of, and I just wrote some stuff down, about how saddening it is to see friends hating themselves, and I just went on from there. I kinda hesitated showing it to my mum, not only because it's something I wrote and have not much confidence in my writing lol but also because I wanted to let it settle first and see how I feel about it later.

On Tuesday I talked to my mum about my thoughts on the chapter - and then she assigned me to do the beginning of the session. It's kinda built on top of something that we did the previous time: a gallery walk with things like "books I've read, friends I've made, things I've muttered under my breath towards my parents" etc on different sheets of paper, as a reflection on our past and all the good and bad we've done. And after they've walked around, someone comes around with a crucifix (Jesus) to take it all down to symbolise that he takes responsibility for all that has happened in our lives. If you look at this, you just kinda think "yeah yeah, I know what you're trying to get at; whatever", and even I thought that too when I went through TOB the first time lol So, I was tasked by mum to do this this year.

The first time I wrote the script, it was like one thousand words long LOL Then again, I combined the gallery walk aspect and the thing I wrote the day before, so that it ties in better, and makes it more relatable to teens. Basically, my point was that the kind of love our closest friends show, those who listen to our self-hatred but listens to us and accepts it anyway, is the kind of love Jesus has for us. At least to them at this age, I think that's the kind of unconditional love that they can resonate with most and understand. I don't know if someone just had a runny nose, but when I got to this point in the script, I heard some sniffling lol And according to the other facilitators, the quietness at that point was the quietest the teens have ever been, the kind where they're really taking in what is being said, and I can only hope that's true.

If I had more time, I would've talked about pride, mostly because I myself know about that lol All the times I didn't want to own up to something, or thought myself the victim, or didn't show appreciation to those closest to me, or that something we did technically wasn't wrong, or berated myself and felt guilty for what I have done yet made no attempt to amend it. This issue of pride has stuck with me, because at the end of one of the adult-TOB sessions, the presenter, when talking about confession, said that the greatest sin of all is to think we have none. That really made me rethink what it is I have or have not done, and has made me want to correct myself.

Anyway, my focus was more on the "Jesus loves you" aspect because we as teenagers often can't see that as possible, to have someone love us unconditionally with all the hatred that we posses towards ourselves. And I think I myself have failed to do that when I should have done so. For the longest time I thought I knew what to do but I never knew how to - but I should just do it anyway, especially when I knew what was going on (I'm sorry I never came to help earlier.)

Yeah, it took me awhile to try and be satisfied with what I wrote, because I didn't know if what I was going to say would be meaningful to them, or if they would even be open to accepting it, but I guess from the feedback from the facilitators and how well the session went, it's all good. Even when I asked each person in my group a question they each had an answer (even the quiet one!!) so I'm proud of them c:

I also went back to the lab, from Wednesday to Friday, because the lab lady said the lab tech has her own experiment she's carrying out, and that I could ask if I could observe her while lab lady is away during Chinese New Year. Lab tech was doing protein cloning, which involves all the splicing of bacterial plasmids with a specific gene to mass produce a certain protein. However, the focus of this week was doing some western blotting that lab lady asked lab tech to do for her. Basically it's kinda like gel electrophoresis, but for proteins. And since the bands are invisible, you can either use some fancy machine that is light-sensitive, or you can expose it to film.

Lab tech is a nice lady, and I think she's the lab tech and safety person-in-charge of her floor because of her experience. Funny though, is that she can be forgetful and a little clumsy at times. There's one part in western blotting that needs you to transfer the bands from the gel to the membrane, and she forgot to put the membrane on in one of the trials. If I wasn't there watching her do it, she would've forgotten the last one LOL

She even let me carry things around and do things, even if I'm not allowed to do any sort of experimentation!! On Friday, we were supposed to let boxes of membranes swish around on a rotator, but the time to do that coincided with her AV duty for a seminar, so she left me with her access card and told me to put the boxes on the rotator at 11.50 that morning. And I was left alone for like 20 minutes while she was gone, and it was so awkward sitting at her table, no lab coat on, and everyone else is doing their own thing and I'm just, waiting. (Waiting to do my duty hOOOOAAAAAH) I even put on gloves just to switch on the rotator. (Apparently when you're outside, you're not allowed to go around with lab coats or touch things with gloves on, so like opening a door from outside needs an gloveless hand, because the glove itself is "contaminated".)

Anyway, I went down to return her access card and sat in on the seminar, given by quite a young lady with her research on stem cells and neurodisease therapy. I managed to understand some concepts, like a gene mutation that produces a faulty protein that causes motor neurons to fail, and how they discovered a drug to extend the lifespan of faulty motor neurons. I didn't understand everything though, so I looked up an article about their research, and then I realised that I have a big job to do as scientific journalist. I really need good understanding of the science before I can put it into words that normal people can comprehend, and if I can't understand it myself then welp lol

That Friday, I had lunch at the NUS science canteen. It was okay. I had spent wednesday's and Thursday's lunch at Clementi. The reason why I didn't eat at the canteen the first two days was because I didn't want to be faced with the awkward situation of not having a place to sit, among people who go there almost every day and have classmates to sit with. Also I wanted to go Art Friend, but the former reason is still more true ;w; Anyway, I had to eat at the canteen on Friday 'cos we would get our results later that day!!

We went to the fancy room with all the scanners on the floor below us. I had been there before with Lab Lady who talked me through some of the stuff she does with the PCR machine, and it's not that easy to understand. That was a good time though, because I asked a lot of questions and learned something lol Anyway, we tried one of the scanners, but it wasn't really showing any results, so we went to the dark room to do the old fashioned way, that Lab Tech was more accustomed to doing.

Their dark room is really weird. It's like half a column protruding from the wall, with a rotating door which is like three-quarters of a black tube. So you stand in the opening, spin the door around, and it opens to the dark room. And good gourd that room was dark. It took at least like five to ten minutes for my eyes to really adjust to it, and I didn't dare move in case I bumped into someone or accidentally walked into a machine. They only had two red ceiling lights, a table where you keep your cassettes and film, a sink that I didn't recognise was a sink, and some machine that you put your film in after exposing it to the western blotting membranes.

We spent some time there, and had some success with one of the proteins. You could see some efflorescence from it quite well and had good results on the film; but the one that should have worked, didn't. Even after trying a different dye-like-solution-thing, not all of them showed up on the film. Lab Tech said that she might have washed the membranes too well that the protein markers (antibodies rather, that attach to the proteins) were washed away so they didn't show up. Anyway, she was going to redo the antibody part of the procedure on Monday, when Lab Lady comes back. So, I don't know if there'll be anything for me to observe this coming week.

And the thing about my first "official" order happened one night, and I just totally freaked out. I couldn't believe I got an order!! From someone I didn't know!! I even asked Bei if it was a friend of hers (she's been sharing my carousell posts on fb lel) and it wasn't, so it must've been a lady who just came across it and wanted one. And it felt like it was so sudden when she asked for custom stuff and I was like so excite!! It's been a couple of days though, and it's gotten me kinda worried. This lady requested for a custom-made notebook, with lined pages and a name on the front, and they both are challenges in their own way.

 I hadn't really thought about how to go about doing lined pages. Initially I thought I could use lecture pad, but the problem is that if I fold A5 pages (into A6) the lines of each folded sheet might not line up with each other, and lecture pad always have that wider space at the top and below. I managed to figure out a solution though. I watched a video about how to use lined paper in bookbinding, and there are programs that do the lines for you, so hecky ye.

Now for the name. At first I thought she wanted me to cut out a name on the cover, (like my first notebook) so I said 30 cents per letter lol but it turns out she wanted me to write it by hand on a name tag, like the one on my second notebook. She wanted me to do it in cursive, which is uh, kinda hard for me to do, with permanent marker. I spent about an hour trying out different variations, and sometimes it pains me so much, when you do it nicely once, but YOU CAN'T REPRODUCE IT AGAIN!! There was one that I did really nicely, and it would've been a shame to not use it, so I thought, why don't I just cut it out, and then paste it on the tag if she likes it. I even used my curved scissors to do the rounded edges, and I must say, I think it looks pretty darn good. (You can message me for pictures, I'm too lazy to upload anything rn)

I was kinda dumb to think, "oh, it's handwritten? I can lower my price for names lawl" so I made it 10 cents per letter, but I didn't think it would've taken me so much time to deliberate and struggle over how to write the name orz Even if I did lower my price, she hasn't replied for like, a couple of days now. I think I remember Carousell saying that the connection was lost or cancelled or something when I last heard from her, so I don't know if that's the problem. I can still message her fine though, like it gets onto the server or something idk. I don't know if this is what they consider "backing out", but even if she doesn't want it, I'll still make a lined notebook because I can experiment and figure out how to do it nicely. It's gonna be a real challenge though, to cut the paper nicely and evenly, and to get the lines match up nicely from page to page.

Yerp, that's what happened this week. I'm still waiting for a reply, I really really want to get something sold ;wwww;

First Successful Sale!!

Well, technically it was gonna be a "success" from the start, since it was ordered by coach and he was expecting it. But considering that today has been the only exciting day the past week, I guess that's a good thing.

Not much happened during Chinese New Year. One of my grandaunts passed away earlier this year, so not many of my Dad's cousins came to visit my grandmother.

Not much has happened in the handcrafting department either (except today which I'll talk about later). I've been trying to make bracelet stuff  'cos I still have the stuff to do so, like embroidery threads for friendship bracelets and whatnot. I tried a new pattern with instructions that were very new to me. Basically it shows you what to do each row, but show the direction of crossing and looping with arrows. (I never thought that the way you crossed or looped threads around each other would matter, but apparently they do.)

Most of the past week was spent moping about how no one was buying anything lol At first I thought the problem was marketing, so I started getting back into social media (sort of). I resuscitated my Facebook account, and befriended a bunch of people from school. To be honest, for a long time I felt like my worth was determined by the number of people who would pay me attention, but I know that's not true, and something to be discussed for another day lol I'll probably spread word around again when I have created more stuff.

Another problem, after talking to the Boob about it, was pretty much something I created for myself. I guess I overestimated how much people would be willing to buy my flowers, and priced them too high lol So just today, I lowered it down from $20 to $12 for a bouquet, which I guess is more reasonable. Probably should've done that from the start. if I wanted to sell my Valentine's day bouquet. Now I can't send it to anyone 'cos I'll be getting braces tomorrow and have no time to meet up with anyone.

I also should've made more individual flowers, so that at least people have a greater choice of what I have, but I didn't like the stick ones I made. After successfully making a bouquet that I was happy with, nothing else would suffice lol Anyway, I might make individual ones next week. That being said, I just made a notebook from scratch that I'm really really proud of. I guess the cutting of my paper could be better, but what to do without a proper paper cutter lol And if I spent more time cutting out my letters properly, they might look neater. I like it anyway, and I'll put a listing up tomorrow morning when there's more traffic online.

Anyway, time to get down the story of coach lol A couple of things happened, one of which was the pricing problem. The first price I gave to him was $24, because I thought each flower would be worth $2. And then I changed it to $20 earlier this week on Carousell to make it cheaper. And then again, after talking shop to Hans, I decided (again) to bring the price down. Coach was nice enough to pay $20 even after I told him I didn't want to overcharge him. His reason was that he already agreed to it, and that it wasn't fair to me omg coach I don't deserve your money ;w;

Just as I reached Bouna Vista, (not only was I meeting him there, but I needed to change to green line to get to Clementi lol) he suddenly messaged me asking if I could deliver the flowers to his wife's office, 'cos she works around there, and I was liek wat. I was like coach dis is 2 soon n so sudden y u do dis. He said that it was okay if I wasn't comfortable to do so, and a part of me just wanted to do it anyway since he implied that I can't do it heh But even if I wanted to, I was too early; his wife would have been at a company lunch then. If I had been there later, I would've done it, just to prove him wrong (and to myself I guess, that I can do things!!)

While I was on my way to Clementi, he messaged me again, with three links on carousell, saying "look what I found", and they led me to listings of my flowers. I literally messaged him "what" [omg I'm on such good terms with coach lel] Even though it's a nice thought that someone would actually want to copypaste pictures of my bouquet to sell, all I could think of was that a report was to be made. Then he said it was him, and felt so accused that I intended to report him. Apparently he put up listings of my flowers on his own carousell account to try and give me some exposure and more responses. (Thank you boss, sorry boss) I later told him I couldn't sell anymore anyway, since I wouldn't be free on Saturday, so he took the listings down (t-thank you boss, s-sorry boss ;wwww;)

I finally met him at Bouna and he gave me the $20 he agreed on, and he wouldn't want to pay less. Damn son, give this man an award for being so nice and concerned about my poopy little business. Those twenty dollars are going to be put to very good use in my wallet. I really hope his wife likes them though.

That's all so far in my crafting-business endeavours. I'll probably try and whip up something new in the coming week... if my braces don't ruin me before then ;w;

Flower Store?

I have had thoughts before of selling my paper flowers - the only problem is how to go about it. What got me really thinking though, was when I passed a flower I made to Ning to give to our netball coach, since I couldn't be at their party that day, and he messaged me to thank me for it. I jokingly said I could make a bouquet for him if he needed, and he replies saying he wouldn't mind buying, and I was like !!!!!!

But selling stuff ain't easy, bruv. There are things like where am I gonna sell them, deliver them, make them; cost of materials and selling price, all that. So I think there are four components to them: store, product, pricing and money transaction, delivery.

Store:

Initially I had two options in mind: set up a separate blog with a catalogue of all the flowers; or sell them on my piano teacher's handmade craft store on facebook lol I mean I don't think she'd mind, so that's not a big worry. But then I realised I could just do both. Not only does it have an existing market, but people can be directed to the blog too for other stuff or customisation. Yeah, I really wanted to do customisation because I think that's better appreciated.

Products:

But Mic, all you're selling are flowers lawl Well yeah, but there are different kinds lol I was thinking of having paper flowers and crepe flowers as different categories. In each category, I would have reference pictures of the different patterned coloured papers they can choose from. Although I suppose I should also have some pre-made bouquets/individuals one, for people who have no preference or are in a rush for a gift lol

Pricing and money transaction:

I thought I could sell them at two bucks a flower, but the minimum I could get from that is $166 ;w; Technically I would earn more since I have big sheets of paper, but I'm assuming I'm using a whole sheet for each, so I should earn more than $200. That is still assuming I even have enough traffic and orders to use all my paper orz I suppose I might sell normal (nekkid lol) ones at $2.50, customised ones at a little higher, and maybe even additional costs for wrapping or delivery or something. Really, at this rate it sounds like I won't make much profit lol orz Using pocket money to make a little more pocket money... But we'll see.

I could either create a paypal account so people will have to fork over the money first lol, or they pass it to me in person. I don't really know if there are any problems with paypal, but I just hope that if I get it in person, they have exact change...

Delivery:

That's kinda of tricky one for me, since I can't just send the flowers through mail. At least, I don't think that's the best for the flowers, also I don't know if mailing them would incur extra cost. If I sell them on my piano teacher's store though, that at least solves the delivery part assuming they're usual customers. I don't know, I'd have to ask her about that actually. Alternatively, it'll probably end up with me having to go to some MRT station to meet up with the buyer and pass it to them in person. Also if I get a lot of orders, I'll need to manage time and dates in which I can pass it to them in person. Sigh.

Others:

I suppose other things I could take into consideration are flea markets or craft fairs etc where people sell their stuff, that's another option too. I think it would be better if I could find someone to do it with though :/

Well, that's most of the things that I can remember thinking about off the top of my head. But for now, I'll probably learn how to wrap flowers into a bouquet, and get back to coach on a good price. I don't want to overcharge him ;w;

Results + Flying Boob

We got our IB results on the 5th, last Tuesday, but it still feels so surreal. The days leading up to the 5th, I was so nervous and worked up by the possibility that I didn't do enough. It was more of a fear of the unknown, because I didn't really know what to expect. I thought the worst I could do was 38, and that would just be enough for NUS, I think, but I didn't want to risk it either, so from the beginning of last year, I had set my sight on 40 or above.

Magically somehow, I managed a 41!!! Which I'm really proud of - until hear of other people scoring higher lol But I don't feel like I did back during PSLE or O levels when I heard other people doing better. I think by this age and after going through IB, they really deserve it c: And even if I had the chance go back in time to redo these past two years to get a better score, I wouldn't. I might get biology and history remarked though, since they're so close to the next grade. (There's no hope for my English lol that was a poopy paper anyway) The only thing I'm really upset by in my scores is my EE. Gosh diddly darn science EEs, being marked strictly. Then again I guess my EE report wasn't that fantastic either, but I couldn't do much more to it.

Anyway, after getting results, the story of how I got home really late came about. The Weebs (I should probably use their names, makes things easier: Stanley, Bei, Daryl, Hans) headed to Bei's house to sort of celebrate. While we were on the way to her place, we stopped by a supermarket to buy some stuff. We just so happen to be at the cashier with condoms. Stanley asked how screwed would I be if there was an opened pack in my bag. Answer: very. Even if Daryl said it meant I had the "mindfulness" to use protection, I'd probably be killed, and then resurrected, only to be killed again.

Then he said that I should buy one for my bro, hide it in his bag, or tell him I "got the goods" as a prank. That seemed funny at first, but then I remembered that my mum told me in the car that morning to school, to hook my brother up with any nice girls in university. I was like MOM PLEASE SIX YEARS DIFFERENCE but she was actually serious about it. My bro has had a bad experience with a poopy girlfriend. One of the girls he went on a date with was like the sister of one of the friend's of my other bro, so that would be kinda awkward; and after a recent date, he said she was ignorant, and I guess naive. My bro's been through some shiet, but I think that has made him more aware and mindful of the kind of people to associate with. Anyway, giving my bro a pack of condoms as a joke is pretty sad in his case. Also, it would not turn out funny, the consequences are not worth the joke.

Anyway, the time at Bei's house was pretty fun. The Weebs played mahjong, but catching up on animal crossing was my priority LOL They taught me how to play before, but I still don't know when to do what and what is allowed. Then other people like Jonathan, Rad, Abbi, and even Ning came by. Apparently Jon wanted to learn how to play MMORPGs, so Stanley and Daryl tried to teach him how to play Leg o' Legends. We all ended up playing our own games some how, like even Bei showed Yandere Simulator to Jon and Ning. We had PIZZAAAAAAA for dinner, and went upstairs to play Saboteur after.

Man, playing Saboteur the first time round when we slept over at Bei's was a wild ride. Each player is given one of two roles, miner or saboteur, but no one knows who's who. The miners have to work towards the gold, which is also hidden out of three cards, and the saboteurs have to well, sabotage them, either by purposely misdirecting the path to the wrong card, or preventing other people from building paths. The first time we played, we went insane with trying to figure out who to trust and who is the saboteur or not. I broke down, crying (not just from laughing too much) after accidentally sabotaging Hans because I thought he was a saboteur, when he was a miner too. And gosh ddiddly darn Daryl, trying to seem so friendly and trustworthy, just to throw us off regardless of his role like omg stop the Jedi mind tricks. Ning, if you're reading this, that night was nothing compared to the sleepover.

Anyway, by the time we left Bei's house, was almost ten. During dinner, I was really worried about time, because I didn't want to reach home too late. Even though my parents never explicitly gave me a curfew, I can't help but try to get home around 8 or 9 so that they don't have to worry about me. Yes, my curfew is self-imposed LOL It was late enough that my mum said she was going to sleep, so that meant no ride home from the bus stop or train station, unless I asked my dad instead, but that wouldn't be very nice for him either. Luckily I had Hans to walk home with, because he was sleeping over, so it wasn't so bad walking in the dark.

The Boob was dumb enough to forget renting a place at the hostel when he was coming back to Singapore to collect results. The scholars were discussing it in our group chat, so that's when I knew he was gonna hobo. He said that he could hobo in the airport, which apparently he has done before. I told my mum about it and she was like "aiyah how can", so my mum letting him stay over wasn't a problem. But then his mum didn't want to, because she didn't want him to impose. That meant he would probably have to fly here and back within the same day - until his dad said he could stay if my parents were fine with it. So that's how the Boob stayed over for the night.

We reached home by around 11.30 pm, which is the latest I've ever been home on my own. Because he was staying over though, it meant that I couldn't go for the netball party the next day, since I had to bring him to the airport. We spent most of the day going through my old stuff (diaries that NONE OF YOU ARE ALLOWED TO READ EVER) and watching TV before leaving the house to go the airport. This was a journey in itself, because halfway as we were walking out to the main road, it started to rain. And I swear, that it was pure bad luck because it pretty much wasn't raining anywhere else. Also I wore the wrong socks with the wrong shoes, and with the rain it was even worse, as the tongue of my shoe was rubbing my skin. Why do I always somehow get my feet injured from shoes ;w; It's my poor decisions with socks... Anyway, that meant we had to make a detour to find socks, which meant taking more time.

We kinda had to anyway, since Hans had to bring his cousin's SIM card that she left back in Indonesia. And since we were interchanging at Bugis, we went to buy socks. The cheapest pairs we found were 4 for $10, and we weren't allowed to just buy one pair, so guess who has an extra three pairs. (if anyone wants, please tell me, they're ladies' size) When I went to change my socks in the toilet, they had that stupid thread that kept the two socks together and I was like hhhhhhhhh I had to go back to Hans, and he managed to rip the thread apart, and just change my socks in public. Even though so much time was taken up by socks and rain, he wasn't late for his plane so that's good.

Admittedly, I wasn't looking forward to bringing him to the airport and sending him off because feels. Yes, being the crybaby I am, I cried a little at the departures gate don'tjudgeme I don't care if the damn flight is an hour and a half long, physically saying goodbye ain't easy, bruh ;w; I was okay when I was heading back to the train though lol Even Coach messaged me to thank me for giving him a flower I made. I jokingly said that I could make a whole bouquet if he needed, and he took it seriously. So guess who's gonna make the monies from selling paper flowers!! That reminds me though, I need to buy PVA glue, crepe paper, and more skewers (maybe more green paper tape?). I probably will when I pick up my Coldplay CD and meet Ju this Saturday.

Yeah, that's what happened the past few days. Not very exciting lol
